Strengthening Urban Preparedness and Earthquake Response (SUPER-II) project aims to build earthquake/urban resilience in targeted three provinces and three municipalities of western Nepal in the context of ongoing federalization. The project builds on the past urban/earthquake preparedness and response interventions, including SUPER & I-SUPER project supported by the European Union Humanitarian Aid (ECHO) from August 2021 - July 2024. It aims to institutionalize urban/earthquake preparedness and response, create enabling environment for its scaling and to further strengthen linkages with the federal preparedness and response system. The inclusivity, addressing the specific needs of vulnerable groups, particularly women, children, and persons with disabilities is an underlying focus of the project.

In close coordination with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), targeted provincial and local governments, the project is being implemented by a UNDP-led consortium with UNICEF and UN WOMEN as consortium members and technical partners. The project will work closely in coordination with the Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO), clusters, development partners, civil society organizations (CSOs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) engaged in urban/earthquake preparedness including WHO, NRCS and PIN. The project commenced on 1^st August 2024, for a period of two years and will directly or indirectly benefit over 500,000 people, including those from the vulnerable and marginalized communities.
