Stand by partnership for Education in emergency response in Karnali and its adjacent provinces

Executive Summery

This contingency partnership will be activated based on the affected caseload which is pre-defined in this programme document. The broad scope of this standby partnership is to establish collaboration among the Sundar Nepal Sanstha, UNICEF, and the provincial and local government education clusters for a timely, coordinated, and inclusive education in emergency response during possible crises. The partnership will be effective for quick response in emergency and help the government and communities to ensure learning continuity for students. • Number of schools/communities developing and implementing DRR measures/plans with UNICEF support UNICEF-targeted children in humanitarian situations accessing formal or non-formal basic education (including pre-primary schools/early childhood learning spaces) • Organize capacity building trainings/workshops for school management committees (SMC), parent teachers’ associations, teachers, and parents on education in emergency issues, including alternative learning approaches and psychosocial well- being. • Explore and implement alternative and blended modalities of teaching & learning continuity in collaboration with UNICEF and Education clusters at the province and local government levels • children excess for learning continuity • Provinces/LGs with a functional sector or cluster coordination mechanism for Education 25 LGs • Mobilization of rapid assessment team (emergency logistic and transport) for (IRA) and Multi-Sectorial Initial Rapid Assessment (MIRA) • Development or update of provincial and local level Education DPRPs) in alignment with the specific nature of crises (one province, 15 LG) • School-led 'back to school campaign • Conduct end-use monitoring of education in emergency supplies • Technical support to the Education clusters for a coordinated response and recovery initiatives and information management system. • Province and Local level Education Cluster Strengthening Strengthen the implementation of the Girls and Inclusive Education Network (GIEN), mainstreaming children with disabilities and improving coordination with stakeholders • Joint monitoring of Education in emergency response

Karnali Province and beyond the province (UNICEF’s direct working and non-working provinces) in emergency response as required

Project agreement period: January 2025- Jan 2027
