Focus : This project is financed by the EIF/UNOPS (Enhanced Integrated Framework/ United
Nations Office of Project Services) with additional financial support from the German
Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Government
of Nepal (GoN). The project is executed by the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation
(MoFSC) with technical support by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale
Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, which acts as an implementer on behalf of the German
Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Implementing
NTIS in the Sector of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (IN-MAPs) project is focusing to
promote Timur, Churi Tejpat MAPs in Surkhet district. The production of any crop,
quality of seedlings and methods followed plays a vital role. The challenge of this
cultivation or practice is assurance of quality seedlings and assistance to the farmers for
cultivation, harvesting and post harvesting treatment.
With the objective of strengthening the capacity of the medicinal and aromatic plants
actors in coordination and implementation of the NTIS in the context of MAPs, the
project has focused on providing technical support in pursuit of providing quality yield
through cultivation of Timur , Tejpat and Chiuri.
Project has been able to familiarize more than 600 MAPs producers with GACP and GAP
guidelines for the cultivation of focused medicinal plants through
