Mini Grid Support Program

Project: Mini-Grid  Support Program (MGSP) under Renewable Energy Project of AEPC/ESAP/NRREP

Supporting Organization: Alternative Energy Promotion Centre, Khumaltar Lalitpur Nepal

BACKGROUND:

Sundar Nepal Sanstha (BNA) is working as a Regional Renewable Energy Center (formerly known as Micro-hydro Area Center) of Alternative Energy Promotion Center/Energy Sector Assistance Program (AEPC/ESAP) since August 2004. BNA Surkhet had been working in the Mid-Western development reason as a Micro-Hydro Area centre for the promotion of Micro-Hydro in the initial Phase. From January 2006 the area centre has transformed into the Regional Renewable Energy Centre (RRESC) of AEPC/ESAP for providing information regarding the different policies, procedure, process, working modality and others technical and social mobilization support for the promotion of Renewable Energy in the region. The project has been implemented as National Rural Renewable Energy Project (NRREP) from January 2012.

RRESC/BNA has been working in coordination with District Development Committees (DDC) of the respective districts, Users’ Committee, local NGOs, INGOs, District Energy and Environment Unit(DEEU) and District Energy and Environment Section(DEES), Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF), district based line agencies and other stakeholders for the promotion and development of Micro hydro/ Pico hydro projects in seven districts of remote Midwestern Nepal.

Progress:

RRESC/BNA has facilitated in different stages of the project such as demand collection, pre-feasibility study, detail feasibility stuy, technical monitoring, social mobilization, business promotion in the projects, supervision during its constrution, documentation for the conditional and final approval of the projects, support the tam of testing and commisioning and power output and household verification, promotion of gender and social inclusion in different levels (project and organizational level) in its working districts.
