PAHAL project supported by USAID/RIMS Nepal and consortium has been implemented in 10 VDCs of Surkhet with major focus on 6 VDCs of Surkhet Lekhparajul, Ranibas, Rajena, Matela, Dharapani and Kafalkot. This is an integrated project with focus on Water and Sanitation, Disaster, Nutrition, Livelihood, Agriculture, Micro-irrigation,

 ·        Vulnerable populations reached with nutrition messages, optimal hygiene promotion

·        Improve safe sanitation services and facilities, Improved post-ODF planning, implementation and monitoring by V-WASH-CC and D-WASH-C

·     Functional and inclusive DRR committees established,  form inclusive Local level Disaster Risk Reduction Committees in the Village Development Committee (VDC) level

·        Support DDRC to build capacity of local level Disaster Risk Reduction Committees on assessment and planning, conduct Risk assessment of VDC, develop VDC level risk reduction plans.

·        Support DHM and the District level EWS committees under DDRC to establish hydro/meteorology stations

·        Support District level EWS committees and its respective VDC's Local Disaster Risk Reduction Committees to develop communication and dissemination mechanisms for functional EWS, to form EWS task forces and provide training.

·        Support District level EWS committees to distribute EWS materials to local level Disaster Risk Reduction Committees , develop evacuation plan and disaster response capacity strengthened

·        Linkages to agriculture buyers and export actors are strengthened

·        Improve agriculture collection and aggregation services, quality of agriculture inputs and services, agriculture market infrastructure, drinking and productive water services and infrastructure, access to productive natural resource and resource management system. 

·        Facilitate dialogue within the CFUGs and other community members on challenges to sustainable forest and communal resource management

·        Structuring/restructuring/revitalizing CFUG for increased inclusivity and strengthened internal governance and their capacity building on sustainable forest use including but not limited to internal management training, income generating activities, resource planning, conservation and alternative livelihood options, sustainable financing mechanism

·        Facilitate development of sustainable use and management plans, providing technical and governance support to the process. Special focus on access to alternative income streams through sustainable forest use and management

·        Develop inclusive community agreements around communal resource use, including enforcement mechanisms,

·        Facilitate implementation of sustainable natural resource use and management plans  planning, including communal water storage and management

·        Conduct sensitization/orientation programs for local level groups

·        Capacity building training to CFUG committee on institutional governance to strengthen accountability, efficiency and increase voice of marginalized people, participatory CFUG policy review.

·        Conduct social audit campaigns to increase transparency of government policies and expenditures

·        Facilitate CFUG to carry out social audit during the Annual General Meeting

·        Follow-up, regular coordination with district stakeholders to support harmonization in activities, Media mobilization Joint monitoring with line agencies.

·        Discuss  with local government and private sector stakeholders to initiate youth sports events at regional level 

·        Facilitate district and VDC-level discussions on gaps, challenges and explore PPP opportunities.
